This pony was made specially for
for Christmas this year - since I got to open my gift I let her open hers, hence why I can show it off here on DA 
She was rather happy with her ^^
Now then, technical stuff.
DESIGN
Kittystars was, obviously based on =missykittystars' DA name
As I know her two favourite colours are silver and purple I decided to base the design on these two colours. I had a fell of a time trying to think of a symbol for her.. so, I made her a TAF (Twice as Fancy) pony. The horn just happened since I went "OMG!! I 
making unicorn horns!" and decided to give her one completely randomly. The pose was chosen because I recalled her saying it was one of her fave pony poses ^^
TECHNICAL
Bait pony: G3 Wysteria
Method
First things first the poor thing got totally gutted (hair ripped out, symbols removed, hoof magnet removed) and cleaned out well. Next, the horn was sculpted using Sculpey clay and then boiled in order to "cook" it - I always prefer to boil my ponies rather than bake them for safety reasons.
Next, she got painted (HAZZAH!!). Eyes were covered in masking fluid in order to keep a template for the eyes and she was painted in a custom colour mix of FOUR different shades of pink and purple combined with mixing white (zinc white for the curious). The paint of course was my trusty System 3 acrylic brand (water based acrylic). Her eyes were then painted in a metallic blend of Silver reeves acrylic mixed with pink and purple system 3 acrylics.. I'm a sucker for metallics.
The symbols were so much fun to do ^^ as you can see, they are 3d and cover her body. How was this done? Fabric paint. Yes my friends, I had a go at using 3d fabric paints as used by ~hollyann in some of her custom ponies (head over to her page and peek at her tutorial if you get a chance
). It took me overall about an hour to do it all and I left them dry for 48 hours.
She was then rehaired using Lady Daydreamer's tool with Restoredoll Katsilk hair in a mixture of purple passion and hi ho silver. Unfortunately, during the rehairing process the horn snapped several times (in some cases even pulling up the PAINT as well
). As such her horn was REPAINTED afterwards in a metallic purple - this paint was also used to give her some "highlights" on her face.
As a finishing ouch she recieved a purple and silver ribbon to her tail and another length of ribbon round her neck with a silver stair dangling from it.
HAZZAH!!
